Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

Horizon Staffing Resources is Certified Medical Assistants for a Community Health Center in Newark, NJ within their Pediatric Medicine Department. CMAs will be assisting nurses with patient intake, vitals, EMR/data entry, and other responsibilities as needed. This role will be acting as triage/patient intake/data entry to assist nurses.

Assignment hours/schedule:

• Monday through Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
• Every third Thursday: 8:30am – 7:00pm
• Every third Saturday: 9:00am - 1:00pm

Responsibilities:

• The Medical Assistant provides day-to-day patient care, clerical and billing assistance while working closely with physicians to carry out responsibilities directly connected to caring for patients in a multi-specialty practice
• Taking and recording vital signs, as appropriate to office operations; may assist with routine medical procedures, as appropriate to training and/or certification
• Performing administrative duties, including answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients' medical records, completing insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handling billing and filing
• Receiving, screening, interviewing, and registering patients
• Preparing treatment and examination rooms for patients
• Drawing blood and performing routine blood tests

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
• Medical Assistant Certification
• Active BLS/CPR Certification
• Critical thinker with excellent communication and strong organizational, team building, decision making and problem-solving skills
• Experience with EMR systems preferred
• Ability to work accurately and pay attention to details
