Employment for Occupational Therapy Assistants in New York expected to Grow 25% by 2020

According to a report by careerinfonet.org, employment for occupational therapy assistants in New York are expected to grow 25% by 2020. The report takes information for the BLS and calculates the expected change. OTA employment is expected to go from 2,120 in 2010 to 2,640 by 2020. The report also lists occupational therapy assistants in New York as one of the top 50 fastest growing occupations. OTAs come in at #38 for New York State.

On a national level, occupational therapy assistants come in at #12 for the top 50 fastest growing occupations. Nationally, employment is expected to increase by 43% (28,500 in 2010 to 40,800 in 2020). The typical education of an occupational therapy assistant is an associate’s degree.
