Average RN Salaries Have Increased by $20k Since 2000

According to a report by the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Bureau of Health Professions, the average salary of a full-time (36 hours per week) Registered Nurse (RN) has increased by about $20,000. An increasing average salary can reflect the influence of many factors, including inflation, an older and more experience workforce, and wage hikes to stimulate employment interests in areas facing nursing shortage. The average RN salary went from $43,906 in 2000 to $63,944 in 2010. There are 196,189 Registered Nurses in the state of New York out of a total population of 19,303,930.
