Horizon Healthcare Staffing has many Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse jobs in New York. ICU RNs provide care for patients with life-threatening medical conditions. We have job openings in the critical care units of hospitals or healthcare facilities and look after patients who have experienced surgery, accidents, trauma, or organ failure. Intensive care symbolizes patients that require exceptional care, because their life depends on it. Most patients that enter the critical care unit are physically unstable and require respiratory and heart monitoring.

ICU nurses are responsible for carefully assessing and monitoring a patient’s progress in order to watch for sudden or subtle changes in a patient’s medical condition that might require immediate action or emergency intervention. During your time as an ICU nurse, you may be faced with ethical matters that may require the stopping of medication. Being an ICU Registered Nurse is not for the faint of heart.

There are some specialty areas for ICU nurses. You can work in adult care, pediatric care, cardiology, neuro-care, or oncology. Each of these areas requires different job duties and responsibilities. Critical care nurses normally work long hours and deal with life and death situation on a daily basis.

Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for Registered Nurses with excellent assessment and clinical nursing skills. We normally require you to have your Bachelor of Science in Nursing or your BSN in order to work in one of our clients’ facilities. Having a higher education will prepare the nurse for many different challenges and situation that may arise in the ICU.
