Occupational therapy services help patients regain functional mobility and relearn everyday physical skills that were lost due to physical, psychological, or developmental disabilities. Skilled Nursing Facility or SNF for short, jobs treat the geriatric and adult populations. An occupational therapy job focuses on the activities of daily living. OTs take great care in evaluating a resident to determine how that person’s cognitive and functional abilities, limb movements, coordination, mobility, fine motor skills, balance and vision affect his or her ability to perform tasks. It’s the duty of the OT to try and get the patient back to performing the everyday tasks that they were able to achieve prior to losing functional mobility.

What is a Skilled Nursing Facility?

A skilled nursing facility can be defined by the Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia as a “health-care institution that meets federal criteria for Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement for nursing care including especially the supervision of the care of every patient by a physician, the employment full-time of at least one registered nurse, the maintenance of records concerning the care and condition of every patient, the availability of nursing care 24 hours a day, the presence of facilities for storing and dispensing drugs, the implementation of a utilization review plan, and overall financial planning including an annual operating budget and a 3-year capital expenditures program.” Skilled Nursing Facilities may also be known by its older term; nursing home.

What Types of Jobs Do We Have?

  • Per Diem
  • Ongoing

Horizon Healthcare Staffing can offer occupational therapists per diem work or ongoing. Per diem means that we put you on assignment for a finite amount of time. This time period could be a few days, 1 week, 3 weeks, 6 weeks, or even 3 months. We also have ongoing assignments. Ongoing assignments mean there isn’t any foreseeable end date. Ongoing assignments normally last at least 3 months. The hours for each job opportunity varies based on location and client. You could work 3 hours a day – 8 hours a day. We constantly get job openings from our clients that might not make it to our website. It’s important that we have your resume and contact information on file so when we do get that perfect job opening for you, we can call you to fill it.
