Kent State University College of Nursing Unveils Poem Written by 600 Nurses

Each day nurses all around the world are making an impact on someone’s life. A nurse’s job is a collection of ups and downs, good and bad, happy and sad. Each day can offer something different. Kent State University College of Nursing decided to take that theory and make it into a poem. The poem is aptly named Some Days. The poem is an interdepartmental collaborative project between Kent State University Wick Poetry Center, the college, and a design firm based in Kent, OH.

The poem was created in celebration of the university’s 50th anniversary. The poem is displayed for the public view and is the first of its kind to be comprised of community voices focused on a specific topic.

More than 600 Kent State University College of Nursing students, faculty, and alumni participated in the project. The poem is said to honor the work of nurses across all disciplines, highlighting the compassionate care, leadership, and research. It’s all the participates, talking at once, about what it means to be a nurse.

The collaborative poem is approximately 6.25 feet tall and 40 feet long.
