Summary:

The Certified School Nurse provides health services to students and staff. This role ensures a safe and healthy school environment by delivering care for illnesses and injuries, administering medications, managing health conditions, and supporting compliance with state and district health regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care and first aid to students and staff.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to school policies and physician orders.
• Maintain accurate and timely health records, including documentation of visits, treatments, and communications.
• Assist with state-mandated screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) as needed.
• Monitor and manage students with conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health issues.
• Respond to health emergencies and follow school emergency protocols.
• Promote a healthy school environment through health education and collaboration with staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or district nurse supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Valid New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Certification as a School Nurse required
• Current CPR certification
• At least one year of experience in school nursing
