PACU Registered Nurse Jobs in New Jersey
Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for well qualified PACU Registered Nurses for our clients located throughout New Jersey. PACU or post-anesthesia care unit RNs are a vital part of ambulatory care centers, and other medical facilities, normally centrally located to operating rooms. PACU nurses provide care for patients recovering from general, regional, or local anesthesia. Unless complications occur, most patients only stay in the PACU for a few hours before returning home or to another department of the hospital / surgical center.
After a surgical operation or a procedure performed with the patient under anesthesia, the patient is transferred to the PACU. Upon the patient arriving in the unit, it’s the nurse’s job to connect the patient to the appropriate equipment for vital signs. The RN must monitor the patient until they are conscious, has stable vital signs, or meets other criteria depending on policy.
We have job openings in various types of settings, but our clients mostly consist of hospitals and ambulatory surgical centers. We have opportunities in Morris County, Bergen County, and Middlesex County.
PACU nurses must be certified in ACLS as well as PALS. PACU nurses will have a thorough knowledge of anesthesia and its effects on the patients. The next step in a PACU nurse’s career would be to get certification in post anesthesia. This can be accomplished by getting your CPAN or certified ambulatory perianesthesia nursing certification (CAPA). These certifications are regulated by the American Board of Nursing Specialties. Our clients normally require at least 1 year experience as a PACU RN and you must be licensed in the state of New Jersey.
