Registered Nurse – School Health Office

Ocean County, NJ

 

Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for a permanent school health office Registered Nurse for a school located in Ocean County, NJ. The school health office RN is responsible for promoting health and safety in the school environment and providing health and emergency services on an ongoing and as needed basis.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop individual student health care and emergency plans as per physician orders.
  • Administer prescribed medication and perform other nursing procedures in accordance with individual health care and emergency plans.
  • Render first-aid to injured students/clients in accordance with policy.
  • Render first-aid to staff on an emergency basis in accordance with policy.
  • Contact parents/guardians to advise them of injury or changes in student/client health.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of transdisciplinary process and personal assistant model.
  • Assist in the management of diagnostic clinics according to clinic procedures.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians, health care providers and/or public agencies to provide information and promote and/or secure health services in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with students/families on health conditions and life style issues as appropriate to promote a healthier student population.
  • Assess situations involving student/client safety, abuse or other health related issues to identify proper treatment and comply with legal and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in transdisciplinary meetings and consult with the transdisciplinary team regarding the health status of student/client on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide written health information for transdisciplinary reports for assigned clients.
  • Maintains updated health records for assigned students.
  • Submit other completed written reports and statistics as assigned.
  • Facilitate mandated Department of Education screenings and communicate results to parents.
  • Monitor immunization records of all students, notify parents of upcoming immunization deadlines as appropriate, notify the Principal of potential compliance issues.
  • Assist in the ordering of equipment, supplies and materials necessary for the implementation of the nursing program.
  • Continue professional improvement, on-going education and attendance at conferences, workshops, staff meetings, in-service trainings and committees as assigned.
  • Perform job activities that may involve moderate to strenuous activity including lifting, repetitive bending, pulling, pushing and stooping.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree.
  • NJ RN License
  • Previous work experience with people with multiple disabilities preferred.
  • Maintain CPR certification; Maintain PALS certification.
