Horizon Healthcare Staffing is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team at an outpatient Facility in Queens, NY. As a PTA, you will work closely with the Physical Therapist to provide high-quality rehabilitative care to patients. Your role will involve implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic exercises, and assisting residents in their journey towards improved mobility and function.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to evaluate residents' physical conditions, functional abilities, and limitations, and assist in developing individualized treatment plans.
- Implement prescribed physical therapy interventions under the supervision and guidance of the Physical Therapist to improve residents' mobility, strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination.
- Provide therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and assistive device training to enhance residents' functional abilities and promote independence.
- Assist in monitoring and documenting residents' progress, modifications in treatment plans, and outcomes to ensure effective care and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Help residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility exercises to maintain or restore their independence and functional abilities.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, nurses, and physicians, to coordinate and optimize resident care.
- Educate residents, family members, and caregivers on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and injury prevention strategies to support ongoing progress and independence.
- Ensure the therapy area and equipment are clean, organized, and in proper working condition, adhering to infection control protocols.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of New York.
- Knowledge of physical therapy principles, techniques, and interventions commonly used in an outpatient setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with residents, family members, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow directions from the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and documentation software.
- Physical stamina and ability to assist residents with transfers, ambulation, and therapeutic exercises.
- Compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for patients.
