Registered Nurse – LTAC Hospital

Horizon Healthcare Staffing is searching for RNs with critical care experience for a Long Term Acute Care Hospital in Essex County, New Jersey. We are looking for Registered Nurses for 12 hours shifts. The shifts may range from 7am – 7pm or 7pm – 7am. Shifts will be Monday – Sunday (choice of days).

A LTAC (long term acute care) Hospital is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and intensively focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. In addition, a LTAC Hospital’s average length of stay is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average in a general hospital. Whereas nursing homes offer less intensive or sub-acute services typically after a general hospital or LTAC Hospital stay. Fundamentally, patients appropriate for LTAC Hospitals include those who may be ventilator dependent, suffering from multi-organ failure or deep wound ulceration.

LTAC RN Job Details:

  • Essex County
  • 12 hour shifts, 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am
  • Long Term Care experience a must
  • 1 year critical care experience

 

RN Job Description:

The LTC Registered Nurse (RN) will provide skilled nursing assessments and direct care to the LTAC hospital resident. This person takes as active role in planning resident care and ensures the quality of care given to the resident. The RN may function in the role of charge nurse and/or floor nurse by administering medications/treatments to the resident; oversee, monitor, and coordinate care performed by assigned staff and/or may function as RN on duty. The RN may be required to provide nursing care in other nursing departments of the facility to meet resident/patient care needs.

LTAC RN Job Requirements:

  • Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS required
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience in critical care, preferable in a Long Term Care facility, is desired.
  • Speaking, listening, and writing skills required to effectively communicate with others, and to document care provided. Ability to complete computer documentation is required.
