Master of Social Work - MSW Job

 

The MSW candidate will provide psycho-education and skills training to caregivers of individuals with psychosis. The MSW candidate will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The hired individual will be required to attend a 1 week full-time training course at the start of employment.

 

Full time position: 40 hours per week, 9am-6pm

Part time position: 20 hours per week, flexible hours based on caregiver needs

Additional hours: 1 or 2 hours per week for late evening sessions; part of on-call rotation to manage crisis line

Location: Hunterdon County, New Jersey

Salary/Pay: TBD based on candidate’s experience and credentials

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following at the graduate level: nursing, social work or within a psychological therapy.
  • Qualification in the delivery of a psycho-social intervention for psychosis.
  • 5 plus years experience
  • NJ or PA MSW
  • Bi-lingual Spanish a plus

 

EXPERIENCE

  •  Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
  • Worked in a service demonstrating clinical outcomes using pre-determined objectives
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time
  • Demonstrates high standards in written communication
  • Experience delivering a manualized psycho-social intervention.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

  • Demonstrates an understanding of psychosis/schizophrenia
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the issues faced by caregivers of people with psychosis.
  • Knowledge of medication used in psychosis/schizophrenia
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the need to use evidence-based interventions and how it relates to this position

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

SERVICE DELIVERY

  • Accept new cases via agreed protocols within the service.
  • Deliver psycho-education and skills training program to caregivers.
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to minimize waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.
  • Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
  • Keep coherent records of all intervention delivery in line with service protocols.
  • Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate service delivery

 

TRAINING AND SUPERVISION

  • Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the position.
    Apply learning from the training program in practice.
  • Attend supervision on a weekly basis. Prepare for these meetings, take notes and implement the course of action agreed so as to meet the required service delivery standards.
  • Provide required materials and intervention recording sessions on a timely basis for supervision.

 

PROFESSIONAL

  • Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times, as outlined in Federal HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior staff on a regular basis as part of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.
  • Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to agreed objectives.
  • Keep up to date all records in relation to Continuous Professional Development.

 

GENERAL

  • Contribute to the development of best practice within the service.
  • Support the service in conducting research including the collection of outcome data.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Mental Health.
